Defne Kurt wins 4th gold at European Para Swimming Championships

Turkish para swimmer Defne Kurt picked up her fourth gold medal at the 2026 European Para Swimming Championships in Kocaeli after winning the women's 100-meter backstroke S10 final.

Kurt finished the race in 1 minute, 7.41 seconds at the Gebze Olympic Swimming Pool, coming out on top against her rivals and adding another gold medal to her championship tally.

Kurt leaves pool in wheelchair after experiencing leg pain

Following the final, Kurt felt pain in her legs and left the venue in a wheelchair as a precaution.

She was later reported to have no injury and is expected to return to the pool on Sunday for the women's 100-meter freestyle S10 event.

Her latest victory brought her total number of gold medals at the championships to four.
