Eczacibasi Dynavit has moved to reshape its squad for the new season by signing German middle blocker Camilla Weitzel and Italian opposite hitter Ekaterina Antropova, bringing in two high-profile players with major club and national team experience.
The Turkish volleyball club said Weitzel will strengthen its middle blocker rotation, while Antropova, one of European volleyball's leading scoring options, will add attacking power on the right side of the court.
Camilla Weitzel, born in 2000 and standing 195 centimeters tall, joins Eczacibasi Dynavit after playing for VCO Dresden, Dresdner SC 1898, Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri '76, Megabox Ondulati Del Savio Vallefoglia, and Savino Del Bene Scandicci.
Eczacibasi Sports Club Manager Bilun Yilmaz said Weitzel stands out for her discipline and professionalism, adding that her role as Germany national team captain reflects her leadership qualities. Yilmaz said the club expects her to bring her experience onto the court and into the team environment, especially in critical moments.
Weitzel has represented Germany in major international competitions, including the Volleyball Nations League, the European Championship and the World Championship. She also drew attention with her performance as a middle blocker during the 2023 VNL, the annual global national-team tournament organized for elite volleyball sides.
At club level, her achievements include German Cup titles, a German Bundesliga championship, the CEV Challenge Cup, the WEVZA Cup, the CEV Cup and the 2025/26 Club World Championship. She has also received individual awards, including German Cup MVP and best attacking player honors in the CEV Challenge Cup.
Eczacibasi also confirmed the arrival of Ekaterina Antropova, a 2003-born opposite hitter who has played for Volley Academy Sassuolo B, Green Warriors Sassuolo and Savino Del Bene Scandicci.
The club described Antropova as one of Europe's strongest scoring weapons, while Yilmaz said she combines physical power with technical quality at the highest level.
"Antropova is a very special player who meets the requirements of modern volleyball at the highest level and can combine her physical strength with her technical capacity," Yilmaz said.
Yilmaz added that her dominant character, strong serve, and attacking efficiency can change the course of matches, while her Olympic champion status brings high-level competitive experience and a winning mentality that matches the club's goals.
Antropova made a major breakthrough with Savino Del Bene Scandicci, winning both the CEV Challenge Cup and the CEV Cup and being named MVP in both competitions. She also received MVP and best opposite hitter honors at the 2025 FIVB Club World Championship.
The two transfers give Eczacibasi Dynavit added depth, leadership and scoring quality as the club prepares for the new season.
Weitzel brings middle-blocker experience, national-team leadership and a record of European club success, while Antropova arrives with a strong reputation as a decisive attacker who has won titles with both club and country.
With Italy, Antropova won the 2024 Volleyball Nations League, the 2024 Olympic Games, the 2025 VNL and the 2025 World Championship. Her individual record also includes top scorer and best server awards in Italy's Serie A1, the CEV Cup, the CEV Champions League and the Club World Championship.
