Galatasaray goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir and Fenerbahce's Ederson will take center stage when the Istanbul rivals face off in the Turkish Super Lig on Monday, Oct. 26, with both players entering the derby after recording multiple clean sheets this season.
The ninth-round clash at Galatasaray's RAMS Park will bring together two teams competing near the top of the standings. Galatasaray leads the league with 19 points from eight matches, while Fenerbahce sits third with 16 points.
Although Galatasaray have conceded 11 league goals compared with Fenerbahce's six, the individual performances of their goalkeepers could play a significant role in the upcoming encounter.
Fenerbahce's Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson has made 12 appearances across the Super Lig, UEFA Champions League qualifiers and Champions League this season, conceding 15 goals while keeping five clean sheets, meaning he prevented the opposition from scoring.
In domestic competition, Ederson has featured in seven of Fenerbahce's eight matches, keeping clean sheets against Samsunspor, Gaziantep FK, Eyupspor, Caykur Rizespor and Alanyaspor.
Meanwhile, Galatasaray's Turkish international Ugurcan Cakir has appeared in 10 matches across the Super Lig and Champions League, conceding 18 goals and recording three clean sheets.
Cakir has kept out the opposition in victories over Erzurumspor FK, Kocaelispor and Genclerbirligi. He has played in seven league matches, having missed the home fixture against Goztepe because of an injury.
Cakir has faced Fenerbahce 17 times during his career, including 15 appearances for Trabzonspor and two for Galatasaray.
Across those encounters, he has recorded seven wins, four draws and six defeats, conceding 27 goals and keeping two clean sheets.
Ederson, meanwhile, is preparing for his fourth Galatasaray derby since joining Fenerbahce at the beginning of last season.
His previous three appearances against Galatasaray produced one win, one draw and one defeat. Fenerbahce drew 1-1 at home in the league before losing 3-0 away, when Ederson was sent off with the score at 1-0.
However, the Brazilian also helped Fenerbahce secure a 2-0 victory over Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Cup final, adding another chapter to his record against the Istanbul rivals.
With both goalkeepers expected to start on Monday, the derby will offer another opportunity for Cakir and Ederson to build on their performances against their clubs' biggest rivals.
