Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has turned his attention to the upcoming derby against Fenerbahce, saying his team is eagerly awaiting the clash following its 4-2 away victory over Lille in the UEFA Champions League.
Speaking to reporters after Wednesday's match in France, the Nigerian forward acknowledged the intense emotions surrounding the Istanbul rivalry while emphasizing the advantage of playing at home.
"When we talk about the derby, we're talking about a game full of emotions. There can also be chaos. We're really looking forward to it," Osimhen said.
He acknowledged Fenerbahce's quality but stressed that Galatasaray would look to make the most of its home advantage and deliver its best performance as a team.
Reflecting on the Champions League victory, Osimhen praised his teammates for responding strongly after falling behind against a difficult opponent.
He explained that Galatasaray had expected a challenging match in Lille and had focused on fighting back whenever necessary, ultimately securing the win through a collective effort.
Osimhen also discussed the team's previous European encounters, noting that he had missed the Sporting match through injury and that Galatasaray had been aware of Barcelona's quality, particularly its players and coaching staff.
Osimhen thanked Galatasaray supporters for their continued backing and said the team would approach its remaining fixtures one game at a time, aiming to maintain its winning momentum.
Although he acknowledged that a major Champions League encounter against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) lies ahead, the striker emphasized that every European match presents its own difficulties.
For now, Galatasaray's attention is shifting toward Fenerbahce, with Osimhen underlining the importance of derby victories in the title race and the team's determination to make the most of playing in front of its own supporters.
