Fenerbahce Tarfin claimed their 9th Turkish Presidential Cup after beating Istanbul rivals Besiktas 72-59 at Sinan Erdem Sports Hall on Wednesday, extending their recent dominance over the black-and-white side in championship games.
The Turkish Presidential Cup brings together leading teams from Türkiye's domestic basketball competitions.
Fenerbahce entered the 39th edition after winning both the Basketball Super League and Turkish Cup in the 2025-2026 season, while Besiktas had finished second.
Fenerbahce took control early, closing out the opening quarter with a 21-10 advantage before stretching the gap to 46-27 by halftime.
Besiktas cut into the deficit after the break, but Fenerbahce remained ahead 58-46 heading into the final quarter and eventually wrapped up a 72-59 victory.
The result handed Fenerbahce their ninth title in the competition, adding to previous Presidential Cup triumphs in 1990, 1991, 1994, 2007, 2013, 2016, 2017 and 2025.
Besiktas, meanwhile, missed out on the trophy for the third time in four appearances. Their only success in the competition came in 2012, when they beat Anadolu Efes 77-75.
Wednesday's victory also marked Fenerbahce's sixth consecutive championship win over Besiktas across Türkiye's major domestic competitions.
The two Istanbul clubs have met in the Turkish Cup final, Basketball Super League playoff finals and Presidential Cup in both 2025 and 2026, with Fenerbahce coming out on top in all six championship matchups.
Fenerbahce beat Besiktas 4-1 in the 2024-2025 league final series and 3-1 in 2025-2026, while also overcoming their rivals in both Turkish Cup finals and both Presidential Cup meetings.
The triumph also gave head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius his ninth trophy since taking charge of Fenerbahce in the 2023-2024 season.
Under the Lithuanian coach, Fenerbahce have won one EuroLeague title, two Presidential Cups, three Basketball Super League championships and three Turkish Cups.
