Fenerbahce could face strong competition from Juventus as the Turkish club looks to move in for veteran striker Robert Lewandowski, whose contract with Barcelona is set to run out at the end of the season.
Italian media reports suggest the Istanbul-based club has stepped up its interest in the Polish forward, but the Serie A giant has also begun sounding out the player’s representatives while reviewing potential attacking options for next season.
According to Italian journalists Matteo Moretto and Fabrizio Romano, Juventus have recently reached out to Lewandowski’s entourage to explore the possibility of a deal. The move is described as a preliminary inquiry rather than an advanced negotiation, indicating that the Italian side is still assessing its plans for the upcoming campaign.
The Turin club is currently shaping its long-term attacking structure and intends to renew the contract of Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic while bringing in another experienced forward who could rotate with him.
Within that context, Lewandowski has emerged as a possible candidate, although reports suggest that completing such a transfer would be highly unlikely. Financial demands and the player’s own uncertainty about the final stage of his career appear to stand in the way of a concrete agreement.
The Polish striker has publicly acknowledged that he has yet to decide whether he will remain at Barcelona or move elsewhere once the current season comes to a close.
At 37, Lewandowski is approaching what many observers describe as the twilight of his career, a term commonly used in football to refer to the final stage of a player’s professional journey.
Because of this uncertainty, the striker could end up making a lifestyle-driven decision rather than a purely sporting one when choosing his next destination.
The Juventus board, according to Italian outlet TuttoSport, is not currently engaged in advanced talks with any other striker. Their contract proposal model reportedly focuses on shorter and less lucrative deals compared with the recent four-year agreement signed by young Turkish forward Kenan Yildiz.
Juventus’ approach could also reshape the market for several other forwards linked with major European clubs.
If the Italian side moves ahead with its plan to extend Vlahovic’s contract while adding another striker, it could leave players such as Jonathan David and Lois Openda outside the club’s immediate plans.
Canadian international Jonathan David could instead attract interest from Olympique Lyonnais. The French club is coached by Paulo Fonseca, under whom David previously enjoyed prolific scoring spells during their time together at Lille.
Meanwhile, Belgian forward Lois Openda has reportedly drawn attention from Fenerbahce, which is said to be interested in reuniting him with coach Domenico Tedesco. However, the striker’s valuation, reported at around €44 million last summer, remains a significant financial hurdle.
Lewandowski continues to play a key role for Barcelona during the current campaign. The veteran striker has appeared in 34 official matches for the Spanish club this season, contributing 14 goals and three assists.
While Barcelona have not publicly clarified their long-term plans regarding the forward, his expiring contract has inevitably fueled speculation about possible moves across Europe, with both Fenerbahce and Juventus now monitoring the situation closely.
