Fenerbahce presidential candidate Aziz Yildirim signaled the club could pursue Egyptian star Mohamed Salah in a deal worth around €90 million ($104.7 million) while also confirming contact with Norwegian striker Alexander Sorloth ahead of next month’s elections.

Speaking during a live interview on state broadcaster TRT Spor, Yildirim acknowledged the financial scale of a potential Salah transfer but indicated the club would move forward if it becomes a priority under his leadership.

‘If needed, we will sign Salah’

"Salah reportedly wants a salary of €20 million. With taxes, that rises to €30 million. He would want a three-year contract, which means a total cost of €90 million," Yildirim noted. "If that is our urgent need, we will sign him."

The comments come as Salah bids farewell to Liverpool, bringing an end to a legendary nine-year spell at Anfield. The Egyptian forward stands among the most decorated players in Liverpool’s modern history, having won the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, and Club World Cup while scoring more than 250 goals for the English club.

Salah’s next move has become one of the biggest talking points of the summer transfer window, with reports linking him to clubs in Saudi Arabia and across Europe after Liverpool confirmed he will leave as a free agent.

During the 2025-26 season, Salah made 41 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 12 goals and providing 10 assists.

Fenerbahce candidate in contact with Sorloth

Yildirim also confirmed that Fenerbahce has already held discussions with Atletico Madrid forward Alexander Sorloth, though negotiations have not yet produced a final outcome.

"We had a meeting with Sorloth, but there is no clear outcome yet. It may happen, or it may not," he remarked.

Sorloth, who previously played for Turkish side Trabzonspor during the 2019-20 season, enjoyed a prolific spell in the Super Lig, finishing as the league’s top scorer with 24 goals and helping the Black Sea club win the Turkish Cup.

Currently playing for Atletico Madrid, Sorloth has repeatedly been linked with Fenerbahce over the past two transfer windows, although no concrete move has materialized so far.

Aziz Yildirim, 73, is running against businessman Hakan Safi in a bid to return for a second spell as Fenerbahce president after leading the club for 20 years between 1998 and 2018.
