Fenerbahce has reportedly made a formal offer to Egyptian star forward Mohamed Salah as the Istanbul club works on transfer plans ahead of its presidential election in early June.

According to a report by Brazilian outlet Diario Carioca, one of Fenerbahce’s presidential candidates has moved into advanced talks with Salah following the player’s announced departure from Liverpool FC. The report did not specify whether the move was initiated by candidate Hakan Safi or Aziz Yildirim.

The Turkish club is preparing for a presidential election scheduled for June 6 and 7, with both candidates reportedly continuing transfer negotiations while also working on managerial plans in an effort to strengthen their standing before club members vote.

Long-term proposal aimed at keeping Salah in Europe

Diario Carioca reported that Salah’s representatives began holding discreet talks in the transfer market after the expiration of his Liverpool contract, with Fenerbahce emerging as a leading destination.

The report suggested that several factors are shaping Salah’s decision, including a desire to remain on the European stage, maintain a high level of competition and secure a longer-term contract as he moves into the next phase of his career.

To persuade the player, Fenerbahce is said to have put together a strong financial package described as competitive with salaries offered to elite-level players. The key point in the negotiations reportedly centers on contract length, with the Istanbul club offering Salah a three-year deal after the player sought long-term security.

Sporting ambitions also part of negotiations

Beyond financial terms, Fenerbahce is reportedly positioning itself as an attractive sporting project by offering Salah a leading role within the squad.

The report indicated that the club hopes to build a competitive team capable of progressing in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers, should it advance through the preliminary rounds.

Galatasaray, Saudi clubs remain interested

Despite Fenerbahce’s reported progress in negotiations, rivals Galatasaray S.K. is also said to be closely following Salah’s situation and may table an offer in the coming weeks.

Saudi Arabian clubs reportedly remain interested as well, although Diario Carioca claimed that Salah turned down previous approaches from the Gulf country and currently sees Istanbul as a possible next destination while continuing to compete at a high European level.
