Fenerbahce has identified Olympiacos shot-stopper Konstantinos Tzolakis as a leading target to replace Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson during the summer transfer window, according to Turkish media.
The Turkish side has contacted intermediaries to inquire about the availability of Tzolakis and explore the terms of a potential move, as it accelerated its search for a new goalkeeper ahead of Ederson’s expected departure.
Fenerbahce is prepared to offer around €15 million ($17.6 million) for the Greece international, while Olympiacos is believed to value the player at more than €20 million due to his long-term contract and rising profile, reports suggest.
Tzolakis kept 22 clean sheets in 40 matches this season and attracted attention with his performances in European competition. Napoli, Nottingham Forest, and Arsenal have also been linked with the player, increasing competition for his signature.
The Greek goalkeeper faced Fenerbahce in the 2023-24 UEFA Conference League quarterfinals, where he saved three penalties in the shootout to help Olympiacos eliminate the Turkish side.
Reports also indicate that the Yellow Canaries intend to part ways with Ederson after the Brazilian goalkeeper came under heavy criticism for a series of poor performances this season.
He joined Fenerbahce from Premier League side Manchester City at the start of the season in an €11 million ($12.9 million) transfer and earns €11 million annually.
Most recently, he sparked backlash from fans after a costly late error against Caykur Rizespor in the Super Lig’s 30th week caused his team to drop two crucial points in the title race.
After that, he received a red card in the season-defining away derby against Galatasaray for protesting a penalty decision, leaving his team a man down in the 3-0 defeat.
Earlier reports suggested that several Saudi clubs were interested in signing Ederson during the summer transfer window, while Fenerbahce reportedly expects around €22 million in compensation to terminate the remainder of his contract.
