Fenerbahce’s newly elected president Aziz Yildirim is preparing to open direct talks with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez over a possible move for Brahim Diaz, according to a report by Fanatik.
Yildirim, who returned to the presidency after an extraordinary general assembly, has begun transfer planning early with his new management team. The club is reportedly looking at Diaz as one of the high-profile names who could excite supporters ahead of the new season.
According to the report, Yildirim is expected to contact Perez directly before club officials take over the details of any possible transfer. Real Madrid also held its presidential election on the same day as Fenerbahce, with Perez being re-elected.
Fenerbahce’s plan is to first test Real Madrid’s position. If the initial talks between the clubs move forward positively, the Turkish side will then turn its attention to the player’s camp.
Diaz, the 26-year-old winger, has one year left on his contract with Real Madrid. The Spanish club is reportedly open to evaluating offers for the player, who is not considered part of its squad plans.
His market value is estimated at around €30 million, although the report claims Real Madrid may be willing to accept a lower fee. However, the situation could become more difficult for Fenerbahce if more clubs come in for the player.
For now, Fenerbahce is described as the team showing the most serious interest in Diaz.
Diaz is currently with the Morocco national team at the World Cup. He is represented by Sports&Life, but the report states that his career planning is handled by his father, Sufiel Abdelkader.
Fenerbahce is therefore expected to carry out player-side discussions with Abdelkader if the club can first reach a positive understanding with Real Madrid.
