Türkiye's reigning champion, Galatasaray, has reportedly made a move to strengthen its midfield during the 2025–26 winter transfer period, turning its attention to Italian international Davide Frattesi of Inter Milan.
The Lions are preparing an offer for the 26-year-old midfielder, who has struggled to secure regular playing time this season and was previously linked with archrival Fenerbahce, local media reported.
According to Italian sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport, Galatasaray proposed a lucrative salary package for Frattesi, including bonuses that would raise his annual net income to €5 million ($5.84 million). The player is currently earning €3 million at Inter and is said to be seriously considering the offer.
While Galatasaray has yet to submit an official bid, early contacts between the Turkish club and Inter have begun. The Serie A side is reportedly open to selling Frattesi for a fee in the region of €35 million ($40.88 million). Inter is not expected to impose additional conditions if that figure is met.
Club officials in Istanbul are believed to be exploring a structured deal involving a €5 million loan fee and a €30 million purchase option, which could become mandatory under certain performance conditions. Inter, however, favors an immediate obligation to buy or clearly defined terms that would trigger the full payment.
Frattesi has featured in 15 matches for Inter so far this season, contributing two assists. Over three seasons with the club, he has played in 104 matches, scoring 15 goals and providing eight assists.
Sources close to the player suggest he is viewing this transfer window as a potential exit opportunity, driven in part by ongoing injury struggles, including recurring hernia and groin issues. While initially resistant to a move to Türkiye, Frattesi is said to be reconsidering in light of Galatasaray’s proposal, the report added.
Responding to a question about the rumors, Inter CEO Beppe Marotta stated that Frattesi is not currently seeking a move. "We haven’t received any official offers, but we are open to discussions," Marotta said.
Meanwhile, Fenerbahce is said to be trailing in the negotiations, with Galatasaray’s bid offering a higher salary and more direct engagement with Inter, the report noted.
