Istanbul club Fenerbahce reportedly is evaluating a potential deal for Inter midfielder Davide Frattesi, as the Italian club signals openness to a transfer outside Serie A.
According to information gathered by sports outlet Goal Italia, the Turkish side has added the Italy international to its list of possible midfield reinforcements, as the club continues to assess alternatives after talks for PSV Eindhoven’s Joey Veerman did not progress.
Last week, the club was reported to have reached an agreement with PSV Eindhoven and the Dutch player, but recent reports in Turkish media claimed that the next steps were put on hold by the Turkish side to explore alternative options.
Frattesi’s future has resurfaced as a topic of discussion ahead of the winter transfer window, as the 26-year-old continues to struggle for playing time under coach Cristian Chivu’s tactical approach. The player, who joined the Nerazzurri from Sassuolo in July 2024 for a €31.4 million fee ($37.05 million), currently has a €28 million transfer value according to Transfermarkt, and his contract runs through the summer of 2028.
Sources familiar with Fenerbahce’s planning indicated that the club has been keeping track of several midfield profiles to avoid missing out during transfer negotiations, the report said.
Italian media previously linked Frattesi with Juventus in a possible swap involving Khephren Thuram. Those discussions have since cooled, although interest from Juventus has not gone away. However, Inter has been reluctant to strengthen a direct domestic rival, making a move abroad more consistent with the club’s stance.
Inter is asking for at least €30 million for Frattesi, the report noted. The club would consider a structure built around a loan with an obligation to buy, ensuring future income while allowing the receiving club to spread the cost.
