Galatasaray is facing a deepening crisis surrounding midfielder Baris Alper Yilmaz ahead of its upcoming Kayserispor match. The player, who has been absent from training sessions for several days amid interest from Saudi club NEOM SC, reportedly went to the Kemerburgaz facilities Saturday.
Yilmaz reportedly agreed to a four-year contract with NEOM worth €10 million ($11.72 million) annually through his agent and submitted a transfer request to Galatasaray management.
Galatasaray President Dursun Ozbek had previously rejected the offer, saying, "If we are playing in Europe, our goal is the Champions League. We built our squad with that in mind. This is why Osimhen’s transfer was crucial. Selling key players would undermine our project."
Yilmaz's agent, Tuncay Maldan, told the press that all offers had been communicated to Galatasaray management and were rejected with full knowledge of the club. He added, "What concerned us most was not the offers themselves, but the manner and approach in which the discussions were conducted."
According to local reports, Yilmaz has skipped training for five consecutive days and will not join the squad for the Kayserispor match. Okan Buruk reportedly met with the player to discuss the situation, while President Ozbek attended the training session to monitor developments.
In addition to Yilmaz, Lemina will miss the match due to injury.
