Galatasaray is expected to step up its pursuit of Rafael Leao after Milan rejected an opening offer worth €30 million plus €5 million in performance-related bonuses.

Milan is reportedly holding out for €50 million to let the Portuguese attacker go, but the Istanbul club is preparing to come back with a different proposal that could reach €40 million plus additional bonuses.

Galatasaray looks to reshape the deal

The renewed offer is expected to take the form of a loan with an obligation to buy, meaning Galatasaray would initially bring Leao in on a temporary basis before being required to complete a permanent transfer under the agreed conditions.

The proposed package would be worth a total of €40 million before bonuses, falling below Milan's stated valuation but moving closer to the Italian club's demands.

Leao's decision remains the key obstacle

Despite Galatasaray's interest, the main uncertainty surrounds Leao himself. The 27-year-old has not yet seriously opened up to the possibility of joining the Super Lig, Türkiye's top-flight football division.

However, Victor Osimhen's presence at Galatasaray could encourage Leao to take a closer look at the proposal. Further developments are expected as Milan seeks to bring in a significant transfer fee before wrapping up their remaining signings.

Amorim signals that Leao must earn his place

Milan coach Ruben Amorim has also made it clear that Leao will be assessed in the same way as the rest of the squad rather than being guaranteed a central role.

"He is having fun, but he is a player on the team. Today he helped the team, and that is important. But I evaluate him as I evaluate Nkunku or Camarda," Amorim said.
