Galatasaray have moved decisively in their search for a new first-choice goalkeeper, making an official €20 million ($22.25 million) offer to Porto for 25-year-old Diogo Costa. Talks between the two clubs are ongoing as the Turkish champions aim to complete the deal swiftly.
Following the departure of Fernando Muslera, Galatasaray has been linked with several high-profile goalkeepers.
In the Super Lig opener against Gaziantep FK, Gunay Guvenc started between the posts, but the club’s management is pushing to secure a long-term solution before the transfer window closes.
According to Turkish media reports, Diogo Costa has now emerged as the leading candidate. The Porto academy graduate has been a mainstay for the Portuguese side since 2019, making 276 appearances and keeping 110 clean sheets.
He has conceded 267 goals in that time and remains one of the most highly regarded keepers in world football.
Costa’s market value stands at €40 million, placing him in joint-first position among active goalkeepers alongside Gianluigi Donnarumma (PSG), David Raya (Arsenal) and Gregor Kobel (Borussia Dortmund). Porto, however, is reluctant to part with their star, creating a challenging negotiation process for Galatasaray.
While Costa is the priority, Galatasaray continues to explore other options. Manchester City’s Ederson and Inter’s Yann Sommer remain on the shortlist, ensuring the club has backup plans should Porto refuse to lower their demands.
