Istanbul club Galatasaray’s new Colombian winger, Yaser Asprilla, arrived in the city on Saturday, where he was welcomed by club fans upon landing.
Speaking to reporters at the airport, Asprilla expressed enthusiasm about joining the Turkish powerhouse. "I’m very happy to be part of this great club," he said.
"Meeting the fans was also very special. I’m confident we’ll achieve great things together."
The Colombian winger also highlighted his personal connection with Fenerbahce forward Jhon Duran, stating that the two have been friends since the age of nine. "We are very close," Asprilla said. "I’m proud of his success, and I’m sure we’ll enjoy a great competition here."
Asprilla spent the 2025–26 season with Spanish club Girona, where he featured in 17 matches across league and cup competitions, scoring one goal. His earlier career includes stints with Colombia’s Envigado and England’s Watford.
On the international stage, he has represented the Colombian national team 11 times, scoring twice.
Asprilla’s initial move to Galatasaray is structured as a loan, but a mandatory purchase clause will be triggered if he plays a certain number of matches.
If that condition is met, the total cost of the transfer is expected to reach around €23 million ($27.2 million).
The player’s current estimated market value stands at €12 million, according to data from Transfermarkt.
