Galatasaray has scheduled arthroscopic knee surgery for Victor Osimhen after the Nigerian striker sustained an injury during the club's UEFA Champions League match against VfB Stuttgart.

An MRI scan revealed a loose fragment in his left knee, prompting the club's medical team to arrange an operation at Maslak Acibadem Hospital in Istanbul on Saturday.

Club doctor Yener Ince will perform the procedure, Galatasaray announced in its medical update.

The injury has also ruled Osimhen out of Saturday's match against Amed S.F., with the striker removed from the squad ahead of the fixture.

Osimhen fires on all cylinders before latest injury

The latest setback comes as Osimhen enjoys another productive start to the season. The 27-year-old has scored 10 goals and provided three assists in 11 appearances across all competitions for Galatasaray in the 2026-27 season.

His nine goals in eight Super Lig appearances put him among the league's leading scorers, while he has also found the net once in three Champions League matches.

Osimhen has delivered several decisive performances in recent weeks, scoring twice in Galatasaray's 2-1 victory over Fenerbahce on Oct. 26 before adding another goal in a 4-0 win against Konyaspor on Oct. 30.

Galatasaray struggle without Osimhen

Osimhen has already missed 33 days of the 2026-27 season after picking up a groin injury during Galatasaray's match against Istanbul Basaksehir on Sept. 4.

The injury ruled him out of three matches, including Galatasaray's Champions League opener against Sporting CP, before he returned to action in October.

His absence also coincided with a poor run of results for the Turkish champions, who managed just two goals in those three matches. Galatasaray lost 3-1 away to Sporting CP, scraped a 1-0 league win over Kocaelispor and then suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat against Trabzonspor on Sept. 19.

Osimhen's previous campaign was also interrupted by injuries. A forearm fracture in March 2026 kept him out for 29 days, while a knee problem sidelined him for seven days in February.

He also dealt with a hamstring injury in November 2025 and an ankle injury in September 2025.
