Inter Milan booked their place in the Italian Cup final after staging a late comeback to beat Como 3-2, with Turkish captain Hakan Calhanoglu stepping up at a decisive moment to turn the tie around.
Inter looked to be heading out after falling two goals behind early in the second half at San Siro, but Calhanoglu helped his side fight back with two goals before setting up the winner. His performance proved central as Inter not only wiped out the deficit but also edged through on aggregate by the same scoreline.
Como had taken control through well-worked goals from Martin Baturina and Lucas Da Cunha, putting the visitors in a commanding position. However, Calhanoglu first pulled one back with a deflected effort, then guided in a header to level the match before assisting Petar Sucic, who calmly finished a last-minute winner.
Despite the defeat, Como pushed Inter closer to reaching a first-ever Italian Cup final. The club, which was playing in Italy’s third tier as recently as 2019, had built momentum through disciplined play and clinical finishing.
Backed by thousands of travelling fans, Como controlled large stretches of the match, with Baturina opening the scoring after a precise cutback and Da Cunha doubling the lead shortly after halftime with a composed finish.
Their challenge eventually faded as Inter increased the pressure late on, with Calhanoglu’s influence shifting the balance of the match.
With the comeback win, Inter advanced to the final, where they will face either Atalanta or Lazio. The other semifinal remains level ahead of its second leg, leaving Inter awaiting their opponent for next month’s showpiece in Rome.
At the same time, Inter remain on course to secure the Serie A title, holding a significant lead with only a handful of matches left. The team is now pushing to wrap up both competitions and complete a domestic double.
Calhanoglu later said he was pleased with the turnaround, noting that Como made the game difficult but emphasizing that both the league and cup remain the team’s primary objectives.
