Turkey's national football team continued its preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Friday at the Hasan Dogan National Team Training and Education Facilities in Riva, under the direction of head coach Vincenzo Montella.
The first 15 minutes of the session were open to the press, beginning with a warm-up. The remainder of the training, which focused on tactical organization, was closed to the media.
Türkiye secured its place at the tournament for the first time since 2002, advancing through the UEFA playoffs by defeating Kosovo 1-0 on March 31. The squad is placed in Group D alongside the United States, Paraguay, and Australia, with group-stage matches scheduled from June 12 to 25.
Hakan Calhanoglu trained separately from the rest of the squad, while Kerem Akturkoglu, Mustafa Eskihellac, Ferdi Kadioglu and Kenan Yildiz received medical treatment and did not participate in the session. Ahmetcan Kaplan, however, trained with the group.
Also absent were Altay Bayindir, Zeki Celik, Atakan Karazor, Arda Guler, Merih Demiral and Mustafa Eskihellac, who were either on leave or yet to complete their club fixtures.
On the sidelines, Montella and the players greeted members of the press ahead of the session to mark Eid al-Adha. Arda Guler and Yusuf Akcicek distributed Turkish delight to journalists.
Türkiye Futbol Federasyonu (TFF) Secretary General Abdullah Ayaz also attended the session, watching from the stands. The squad is set to continue training on Saturday.
