Montella puts Türkiye through tactical work ahead of Paraguay match

Türkiye's national football team began preparations in Mesa, Arizona, on June 15, for its second 2026 FIFA World Cup Group D match against Paraguay, with head coach Vincenzo Montella focusing on physical work, ball-winning drills, and tactical planning.

The session was held at Arizona Athletic Grounds, a sports complex used for the team's training camp in the United States. The first 15 minutes of the workout were open to the press, giving media members a brief look at Türkiye's build-up before the squad moved on to closed tactical work.

Montella leads training before key Group D fixture

The session started with running exercises under Montella's supervision before the players moved into ball-winning drills, a training format designed to sharpen pressing, reaction speed and defensive coordination.

According to the information shared from the camp, the part of the session closed to the media focused on tactical preparations for the Paraguay match. Türkiye is looking to carry its World Cup campaign forward as it prepares for second group stage fixture.

The training was also watched by senior Turkish Football Federation officials, including TFF President Ibrahim Haciosmanoglu, TFF Deputy President Mecnun Otyakmaz and TFF Secretary General Abdullah Ayaz.

Türkiye is scheduled to face Paraguay in Group D on June 19 as their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign continues in the United States.
