Galatasaray became the most successful team in terms of victories in Turkish Super Lig history after beating Fenerbahce 2-1 in the ninth week of the 2026-2027 season, recording its 1,315th win in the league's 69-season history.
The yellow-red side moved one victory ahead of its fierce rival, which had recorded 1,314 wins since the competition began in 1959. Besiktas ranked third with 1,226 victories, followed by Trabzonspor with 882.
The derby victory also narrowed the gap between the two Istanbul giants in the Super Lig's all-time points standings. The Lions reached 4,036 points, leaving them 18 behind the Yellow Canaries, who had accumulated 4,054 points since 1959.
Galatasaray's rise to the top of the all-time wins list came under coach Okan Buruk, who took charge ahead of the 2022-2023 season. Before his appointment, the Istanbul club had 1,193 league victories, while its archrivals had recorded 1,206.
Under Buruk, the Lions recorded 28 wins in the 2022-2023 season, 33 in 2023-2024, 30 in 2024-2025 and 24 in 2025-2026. The team added seven victories in the current campaign, bringing its total under the coach to 122 since the 2022-2023 season.
Despite losing its place at the top of the all-time wins list, the Yellow Canaries remained the league's highest-scoring team. Across 2,275 matches in the competition's history, the Lions had scored 4,085 goals, ranking second behind Fenerbahce's 4,134.
Galatasaray also held the record for spending the most weeks at the top of the league standings, having finished 676 weeks in first place. Fenerbahce followed with 588 weeks, ahead of Besiktas with 440 and Trabzonspor with 240.
The reigning champions had also topped the standings in six of the first nine weeks of the current season. With 26 league titles, the Lions remained the Super Lig's most decorated club.
Fenerbahce ranked second with 19 championships, seven fewer than its rival. Besiktas had won 16 titles, while Trabzonspor had claimed seven. Bursaspor and Istanbul Basaksehir had each won the league once.
