Italian club Roma has reportedly stepped up their interest in Fenerbahce's Dutch defender Jayden Oosterwolde after sending scouts to watch him during the Galatasaray derby, with a new bid expected at the end of the season, up to €20 million.
According to reports, Roma’s scouting team attended the Galatasaray-Fenerbahce derby, closely monitoring the 25-year-old Dutch defender as the away side suffered a 3-0 defeat, a major blow in the Super Lig title race.
Roma had already made a move for Oosterwolde during the winter transfer window, tabling a €15 million ($17.6 million) offer that was turned down by Fenerbahce’s management, sports journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu suggested.
The Italian club is now expected to return with a stronger bid, reportedly preparing an offer in the region of €20 million once the season wraps up.
The player’s agent is understood to be in ongoing contact with Roma officials, Sabuncuoglu added.
Interest in Oosterwolde is not limited to Italy, according to the report. Two additional clubs from the Premier League and La Liga are also tracking the defender, signaling a potential bidding race in the coming months.
Oosterwolde joined Fenerbahce from Parma during the 2022–23 winter transfer window for €6 million. Initially deployed as a left-back, he later transitioned into a left center-back role.
This season, he featured in 45 matches, contributing one goal and one assist, while establishing himself as a regular in the squad.
