Turkish star Kosaner reaches French Open Juniors third round

Turkish tennis player Kaan Isik Kosaner advanced to the third round of the French Open Juniors tournament after defeating Japan’s Ryo Tabata in Paris.

Kosaner, a 16-year-old national athlete who reached the main draw after coming through the qualifying rounds, beat the tournament’s No. 10 seed Tabata 6-0, 2-6, 6-4 in the second round.

The result moved him into the last 16 of the junior category at Roland Garros, the clay-court Grand Slam tournament held in the French capital.

Kosaner holds off seeded opponent

The Turkish player made a strong start to the match, taking the opening set 6-0 before Tabata responded by winning the second set 6-2.

Kosaner then held on in the deciding set, closing out the match 6-4 to secure his place in the next round.

Next challenge: Keaton Hance

After reaching the last 16, Kosaner will next face American player Keaton Hance, the tournament’s No. 6 seed, in the third round.
