The second week of matches in the WTA 125 tournament series has begun in Antalya, bringing international players together in an event organized through cooperation between the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), the Turkiye Tennis Federation, and Megasaray Tennis Academy.
The tournament, part of the WTA’s mid-tier professional circuit designed to give rising players more opportunities to compete at a high level, opened with several matches involving athletes from Türkiye and abroad.
Turkish national player Ipek Oz moved into the second round of the singles competition after defeating Ukraine’s Katarina Zavatska in straight sets.
Oz dominated the match, winning 6-0, 6-1, a result that quickly pushed her through the opening stage of the tournament. With the victory secured, the Turkish player now moves on to face Polish competitor Katarzyna Kawa in the next round, scheduled for the following day.
Türkiye also found success in the doubles draw. Berfu Cengiz and Ipek Oz teamed up to defeat the international pairing of Moyuka Uchijima of Japan and Lucia Bronzetti of Italy.
The Turkish duo secured the match 6-3, 6-0, booking a place in the quarterfinal stage of the doubles competition.
Their next match will see them face the team of Maria Kozyreva of Russia and Iryna Shymanovich of Belarus, as the tournament continues to unfold in Antalya.
