The wait is over. After a 67-day break, the Turkish Super Lig resumes tonight with the opening clash of the 2025–26 season. Defending champion Galatasaray visits Gaziantep to launch what promises to be another thrilling campaign.
Eighteen teams from 11 different cities will compete across 306 matches in a title race set to span 9 months and 9 days.
The league's 68th edition will conclude on 17 May 2026. The first half of the season will end following the matchdays scheduled for 19–22 December. The first major derby of the campaign — Fenerbahce vs Trabzonspor — is scheduled for Week 5.
This season, for the first time in five years, the league will be played with 18 teams. Clubs will be allowed to register 12 foreign players plus 2 additional ones on their A team roster.
At the end of the season, the clubs finishing in 16th, 17th and 18th places will be relegated to the second division. Among the 18 teams, 12 have retained their head coaches from last season, while 6 clubs begin the year under new management.
Ten of the current head coaches are Turkish, with the remaining eight being foreign.
Galatasaray’s Okan Buruk is the only current manager in the league with a Turkish Super Lig title to his name. Notably, each of the last 18 league titles has been won under the guidance of a Turkish manager — a trend that continues to define the domestic coaching scene in Türkiye.
