Turkish national track cyclists will compete in two international races in Czechia this week as Türkiye looks to strengthen its position on the road to the World Championship.
Ramazan Yilmaz and Mustafa Tarakci, who continue their preparations under the Türkiye Olympic Preparation Center, known as TOHM, will represent Türkiye at GP Brno and GP Austria. Both events are part of the International Cycling Union (UCI) calendar and are important for athletes seeking World Championship qualification points.
The races come after the Turkish national team picked up valuable UCI points at the 9th Grand Prix Presov in Slovakia, where the cyclists delivered successful results in the opening leg of the international race series.
The Turkish Cycling Federation said it is continuing its work to raise Türkiye’s international profile in track cycling, help athletes gain experience in high-level competition and strengthen the country’s place in world cycling.
The federation underlined that the results in Slovakia gave the national riders an important boost before the Czechia races, where they will aim to add new points to their qualification campaign.
In track cycling, UCI points play a key role in international rankings and can affect an athlete’s path toward major events such as the World Championship.
Yilmaz and Tarakci will first take to the track at GP Brno, a C1-level race scheduled for June 12-13, 2026. They will then continue their campaign at GP Austria, a C2-level race to be held on June 14, 2026, also in Czechia.
The Turkish team will be led by coach Mutlu Kadri Ercevik. The technical staff also includes mechanic Murat Yildirim and masseur Mesut Enes Ipek.
Turkish Cycling Federation President Emin Muftuoglu said the national athletes were taking on an important duty for Turkish cycling on the way to World Championship qualification.
“Every success achieved and every point earned in the international arena in track cycling carries great value for us,” Muftuoglu said.
He added that he believed the athletes, who achieved strong results in Slovakia, would also represent Türkiye in the best possible way in the Czechia races.
Muftuoglu also wished success to the cyclists and the technical team as they continue their World Championship campaign.
