Türkiye's men's national volleyball team, nicknamed "Filenin Efeleri" (Braves of Nets), defeated Denmark in its first preparation match ahead of the 2026 CEV European Championship.
According to a statement from the Turkish Volleyball Federation (TVF), the two teams faced off at the TVF Ziraat Bankkart Volleyball Hall in Ankara, the capital of Türkiye.
Türkiye started the match with Efe Bayram, Ahmet Tumer, Murat Yenipazar, Mirza Lagumdzija, Marko Matic, Adis Lagumdzija and Berkay Bayraktar, while Kaan Gurbuz, Ahmet Samet Baltaci, Gokcen Yuksel, Cafer Kirkit, Abdulsamet Yalcin, Yunus Emre Tayaz and Hilmi Sahin came on from the bench.
The team beat Denmark 4-0, winning in straight sets: 25-23, 25-16, 25-18 and 25-20.
Türkiye is scheduled to play a second preparation match against Denmark on Friday, Sept. 4, as it continues preparations for the 2026 CEV European Championship.
The 2026 Men's European Volleyball Championship, known as EuroVolley Men 2026, will run from Sept. 9 to 26 across Bulgaria, Finland, Italy and Romania, with Italy hosting the final in Milan.
Türkiye has been drawn into Pool D alongside France, Germany, Latvia, Switzerland and co-host Romania, with group matches scheduled at the BTarena in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, from Sept. 9 to 16.
Serbian coach Slobodan Kovac leads the national team into the tournament, which marks Türkiye's 12th appearance at the European Championship.
