The Türkiye women’s national football team has arrived in Zurich for a key UEFA European qualifying match against Switzerland, continuing its strong start to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
The squad representing the Turkish Football Federation traveled to Zurich on a Turkish Airlines flight ahead of their third group-stage match. Upon arrival, the delegation was welcomed by Deputy Consul General Furkan Yilmaz, while federation board member Muhammet Akcay also accompanied the team.
Türkiye opened its campaign with two consecutive wins, defeating Malta 3-0 in Istanbul and securing a 1-0 away victory against Northern Ireland in Belfast. With six points collected from these matches, the team currently sits second in its group on goal difference.
After arriving in Switzerland, the team spent the day resting before heading into its first training session in the evening. The session took place at Juchhof Facilities under the guidance of head coach Necla Gungor Kiragasi.
Ahead of training, Hasan Yildiz, the Turkish coordinator at the facility, presented red roses to players and staff, marking a symbolic welcome. The team later gathered for a commemorative photo following the gesture.
Türkiye is set to face Switzerland on April 14 at Letzigrund Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 8:00 p.m. (Türkiye's local time). The match is expected to play a key role in determining the group standings as the qualifiers progress.
Following the Zurich fixture, the team will travel back to Türkiye via Istanbul before continuing preparations in Sinop. The two sides will meet again on April 18, when Türkiye hosts Switzerland at Sinop City Stadium for the fourth group match.
