Türkiye's Ahmet Kaplan moved into the semifinals of the French Open in Paris after a dominant straight-sets win in the quad wheelchair tennis category, while junior player Kaan Isik Kosaner bowed out in the third round.
Kaplan, ranked No. 5 in the world, took on Britain's Gregory Slade, the world No. 9, in the quad wheelchair quarterfinals at Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam tennis tournament of the season.
The Turkish para tennis player came through the match without dropping a game, beating Slade 6-0, 6-0 in 44 minutes.
With the win, Kaplan moved on to the next round, where he will face the Netherlands' Sam Schroder, the top seed in the quad wheelchair draw.
The quad category in wheelchair tennis is for athletes with impairments affecting both the upper and lower body, making Kaplan's progress one of Türkiye's key results at this year's tournament.
In the boys' junior category, Kaan Isik Kosaner was unable to get past sixth-seeded American Keaton Hance.
Kosaner lost the third-round match 6-1, 6-1, bringing his run at the tournament to an end.
