The United States has introduced a new visa facilitation measure for international football fans planning to attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. Under the new policy, applicants holding official match tickets will be eligible for priority visa appointment scheduling at U.S. embassies and consulates.
According to a statement from the U.S. Embassy in Ankara, individuals who have purchased World Cup tickets through FIFA’s official sales channels will be able to access prioritized visa interview appointments..
U.S. authorities emphasized that the priority system applies only to the scheduling of visa interviews and does not affect the visa evaluation or approval process. All applications will continue to be reviewed under existing immigration regulations, including standard security and eligibility checks.
The program was introduced as U.S. visa appointment waiting times in several countries have reached several months, raising concerns among prospective travelers ahead of the tournament.
To benefit from the priority appointment system, applicants must present valid World Cup tickets purchased through FIFA’s official platforms. Tickets obtained via unauthorized or secondary resale channels may not be considered eligible.
