Iran’s national football team said Monday that two of its media staff members have been unable to travel with the squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after failing to obtain U.S. visas, warning that the issue may slow down official updates during the tournament.

The team’s media department said the two officials had not yet received U.S. visas, preventing them from joining the national squad as it takes part in the World Cup.

“As neither of the two members of Iran National Team's media staff has yet received a U.S. visa, we are currently unable to travel with the team,” the statement said.

Team warns of delays in updates

The media department said the situation could affect the flow of information from the team during the competition, particularly for journalists and media organizations following Iran’s campaign.

“Naturally, this may result in some delays in providing updates and sharing information,” the statement added.

The department apologized in advance for the disruption and thanked journalists and colleagues for their patience and understanding.

“We sincerely apologize in advance for this unforeseen situation and appreciate your understanding and patience,” it said.
