Xabi Alonso gives Arda Guler a Kroos-like midfield role in Real Madrid’s lineup

Real Madrid and Al Hilal played to a 1-1 draw in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup held in the United States. Arda Guler came on as a substitute in the second half, marking a notable appearance for the young Turkish talent.

Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso deployed Guler in a new role as a central midfielder wearing the number 8 jersey, deviating from his usual position as a right winger during the Carlo Ancelotti era.
