President Erdogan reaffirms Türkiye’s unwavering commitment to combat terrorism until the nation is free from the threat, highlighting successful operations against terrorist groups

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed Monday that Türkiye will continue its determined fight against terrorism until the nation is free from the threat of separatist terrorism.

Speaking at a rally in Corum province ahead of local elections, Erdogan highlighted Türkiye’s efforts to counter terrorism.

He emphasized how terrorists attempted to encircle Türkiye by establishing a corridor in neighboring Syria and mentioned attacks by the terror group Daesh.

Erdogan said that Türkiye successfully repelled these threats through operations in northern Syria, near the Turkish border.

“We have cleared out terrorist hideouts with a strategy aimed at eradicating the roots of terrorism. We have done it in Gabar, we have done it in Tendurek, and we have done it in Bestler-Dereler,” he added, referring to areas in Türkiye close to the borders where terrorists have sought refuge, crossed into the country, and planned attacks.

Erdogan also highlighted Türkiye’s use of armed unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) to track down terrorists up to 300-350 kilometers (189-217 miles) from the border and eliminate them.

Since 2016, Türkiye has launched several successful anti-terror operations across its border in northern Syria to prevent the formation of a terrorist corridor and facilitate the peaceful settlement of residents.

These operations include Euphrates Shield (2016), Olive Branch (2018) and Peace Spring (2019).
