Turkish pilots make history as F-16, S-70 Blackhawk perform formation flight
SOLOTURK’s pilot and Gendarmerie Celik Wings pilot perform a formation flight – creating a spectacle in the sky
Turkish pilots achieved new milestones in history as pilots from SOLOTÜRK, the aerobatic demonstration team of the Turkish Air Force, and Gendarmerie Çelik Wings of Türkiye performed aerial acrobatics using F-16C Block-30TM jet fighter aircraft Saturday.
SOLOTÜRK’s pilots Emre Mert and Gendarmerie Çelik Wings pilot Colonel Mustafa Tekindor broke new ground in the world. Mert slowed down to 150 knots with his F-16 fighter jet, while Tekindor accelerated to 150 knots with his S-70 Blackhawk helicopter and performed a formation flight – creating a spectacle in the sky.
‘Formation flight’ or ‘tactical formation flying’ in aviation is a disciplined flight of two or more aircraft performed under the command of a leader for joint defense and civil aviation.
The formation flight is mainly carried out for demonstration and hobby purposes.
The unique formation flight between the F-16 fighter jet and the S-70 Blackhawk helicopter garnered attention as this extraordinary demonstration highlighted the Turkish Air Force pilots’ unique skills.
