Türkiye’s humanitarian mission bridges borders to aid Afghanistan
Turkish State Railways (TCDD) has been tasked with transporting humanitarian aid materials to Afghanistan along the Türkiye-Iran-Turkmenistan-Afghanistan route until Dec. 31.
A Presidential Decree outlining this assignment has been published in the Official Gazette.
As per the decree, TCDD will oversee the transportation of humanitarian aid materials to Afghanistan via the Turkey-Iran-Turkmenistan-Afghanistan route until the end of 2024.
Remuneration for activities related to implementing the decree will encompass various expenses, including tariffs determined within the framework of international agreements, TCDD tariffs and regulations and round-trip transportation fees.
Customs formalities, transshipment from wagon to wagon, handling, supervision during loading, “forwarder” fees, ferry crossings, insurance, and other mandatory expenses associated with completing the transportation are also included in the activities charged for remuneration.
The decree, to be executed by the Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Simsek, became effective on May 20.
