Turkish Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu stated on Wednesday that the damaged black box and voice recorder from the Libyan military delegation plane that crashed in Ankara will be examined in the United Kingdom, with Turkish, Libyan and aircraft manufacturer country representatives accompanying the process.
"Both the black box and voice recorder there have been damaged. Four countries in the world can solve this.
A decision was made for this process to be carried out in the U.K., with our colleagues, the Libyan side, and the aircraft manufacturer country side accompanying it to one of these four countries," Uraloglu told reporters before the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Parliamentary Group Meeting.
A jet carrying Libyan Chief of General Staff Mohammed Al-Haddad and his delegation crashed near the Haymana district on Dec. 23, killing five members of the military delegation and the flight crew.
Those killed included Libyan Chief of General Staff Gen. Mohammed Ali Al-Haddad, Libyan Land Forces Commander Lt. Gen. Futuri Gribel, and Director of Libyan Military Factories Brig. Gen. Mahmoud Juma El Giteviy, adviser to the Libyan chief of general staff Mohammed Assavi, and photographer Mohammed Omar Ahmed Mahjoub.
Uraloglu said the crash saddened everyone, and they are closely following the process.
"Of course, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is conducting this, and a decision was made. We will continue in this manner. This is a process that will take some time," he added.
Regarding when the examination will take place, Uraloglu said: "We have assigned our delegation, they will go to the U.K. these days and will closely follow the process together with all the parties I mentioned, but it will probably take at least a month, maybe even more."
When asked whether the black box will be examined in the U.K., Uraloglu confirmed, "Yes, definitely. Both the black box and the voice recorder."
