A 58-year-old suspect wanted under a red notice issued at Mongolia’s request over alleged drug trafficking was detained during an operation in Istanbul and transferred to a removal center, police said.
Teams from the Istanbul Police Department’s Narcotics Crimes Branch launched an operation to locate individuals wanted internationally.
As part of the investigation, officers determined that the suspect, identified by the initials D.T., was staying in Istanbul’s Kagithane district.
Police detained D.T. during an operation conducted on July 16 and took the suspect into custody.
Mongolian judicial authorities had requested the suspect’s extradition to the country in connection with a drug trafficking case.
Checks conducted after the detention also found that the suspect was subject to restriction records registered under various codes.
Police completed the suspect’s procedures at the station following the operation.
D.T. was then transferred to a removal center as part of the ongoing judicial and administrative proceedings.
