Libyan Government of National Unity Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dibeybe said drone attacks targeting oil and industrial facilities in Zawiya were a "serious crime" and would not go unanswered, as a power station and the Zawiya Oil Complex were hit in separate strikes.
Dibeybe said on social media that attacks on oil and industrial facilities posed a serious threat to Libya's security and economy.
He said an investigation had been launched to determine the source of the attacks and identify those responsible, adding that they would be held accountable.
"These attacks are a serious crime. Attacks on oil facilities will not go unanswered," Dibeybe said.
A drone targeted a power station in the western city of Zawiya early Wednesday, sparking a fire at the facility, according to local media reports.
Footage carried by Libyan outlets showed flames rising from the station following the reported strike.
Libya's General Electricity Company said the South Zawiya transformation station was targeted, causing the facility to burn completely and go out of service.
The company said the attack cut electricity to wide areas.
The strike followed a series of drone attacks on key infrastructure in Zawiya, about 40 kilometers, or 25 miles, west of Tripoli.
Libya's National Oil Corporation said the Zawiya Oil Complex had been targeted by drones for the fifth time in recent days.
The latest attack caused a fire in a fuel tank, which was later brought under control, the corporation said.
The U.N. Support Mission in Libya, or UNSMIL, separately condemned ongoing clashes in Zawiya and Surman.
The mission called on all sides to immediately halt the fighting.
