Russia said Sunday that its forces struck a data center in the Ukrainian city of Odesa and a cargo ship at Chornomorsk Port, while a separate drone attack damaged a Yandex data center east of Moscow and forced the Russian technology company to suspend operations at the facility.
The Russian Defense Ministry said its forces continued overnight drone strikes on Ukrainian data centers, port infrastructure and vessels it said were being used in the interests of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The ministry said the strikes hit the Tenet data center in Odesa, which it said was used by the Ukrainian military to process, transmit and store information.
It also said a dry cargo vessel carrying what it described as military cargo was struck at Chornomorsk Port.
In a separate statement, the ministry said Russian air defenses destroyed 479 Ukrainian drones over different regions overnight.
Yandex said a drone attack damaged infrastructure at its data center in the Vladimir region, east of Moscow, disrupting operations.
“As a result of a UAV attack, infrastructure at the Yandex data center in Vladimir was damaged,” the company said in a service alert on Telegram.
No one was injured, Yandex said, adding that emergency services were at the site and the company was assessing how to restore operations.
“Operations at the data center have been completely suspended,” the company said, advising users to activate disaster-recovery plans as the platform operated in emergency mode.
Yandex also warned that its remaining resource configuration was unstable and that technical support communications could be disrupted while teams assessed the damage.
The company operates Russia’s most popular search engine as well as food delivery and taxi services used by tens of millions of people.
The Vladimir incident was the third reported attack on a Yandex data center within a week.
On Friday, Yandex said a drone attack damaged a facility in the Kaluga region, taking several modules out of service and disrupting some services.
The night before, an attack caused a fire at a Yandex facility in the Ryazan region and led to major outages affecting transport and e-commerce platforms.
