A suspected sniper opened fire at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Dallas on Wednesday morning.

The unidentified gunman killed at least three at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office and injuring at least three others before dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said.

The shooting began around 7 a.m. at the ICE field office. Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons told CNN the victims could include employees, visitors or detainees, but officials were still working to confirm identities.

Dozens of emergency vehicles lined a highway near the facility as law enforcement secured the area.

Noem condemns ‘unprecedented violence’

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed the fatalities in a statement on X, saying the motive remained unclear.

“While we don’t know motive yet, we know that our ICE law enforcement is facing unprecedented violence against them. It must stop,” she wrote. “Please pray for the victims and their families.”

Facility targeted before

The Dallas field office has faced repeated threats in recent months. In August, a man identified as Bratton Dean Wilkinson, 36, was arrested after allegedly claiming to have a bomb in his backpack at the facility’s entrance. He is facing federal charges of making terroristic threats.

Earlier this summer, a July 4 attack at another Texas immigration detention center left a police officer injured. Federal prosecutors said 11 people were charged after assailants in military-style clothing opened fire outside the Prairieland Detention Center southwest of Dallas.
