Muslims living in Tokyo and surrounding areas gathered in large numbers at Tokyo Mosque on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, with the mosque holding the Eid prayer three times due to overwhelming attendance.

Hundreds of worshippers from Türkiye and various other countries arrived at the mosque in the early hours of the morning to participate in the Eid prayers.

The large turnout caused the congregation to overflow into the mosque courtyard, prompting mosque officials to organize the prayer service in three consecutive sessions to accommodate all attendees.

Tokyo Mosque Coordinator and Chief Imam Musa Atci said the mosque witnessed significant participation, as in previous years.

“Both Turkish citizens living here and Muslims residing in Japan from different countries flocked to our mosque to perform the Eid al-Adha prayer,” Atci said.

He noted that the mosque’s capacity was insufficient to accommodate the large congregation at once, making it necessary to conduct the prayer multiple times. Atci also extended Eid greetings to the Muslim community and offered prayers for unity and prosperity.

Worshippers attending the prayers highlighted the sense of solidarity and multicultural unity experienced during the celebration.

Attendees said Muslims from all over the world came together at Tokyo Mosque to celebrate Eid al-Adha.
