Türkiye-U.S. trade volume has reached about $38 billion as economic ties between the two countries gain momentum, Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat said Tuesday during a series of business and investment meetings in New York.
Bolat, who accompanied President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to New York for the 81st session of the U.N. General Assembly, said the U.S. is Türkiye's second-largest export market and fourth-largest import partner.
The U.S. is also the second-largest source of foreign direct investment in Türkiye, while about 1 million American tourists visit the country each year.
Speaking at the 4th Turkish-American Business Gathering organized by the Anatolian Lions Businessmen Association (ASKON), Bolat said strengthening exports, the economy and the balance of payments would further reinforce Türkiye's economic position.
"Under the leadership of our president, we will take our country higher together," Bolat said.
ASKON President Orhan Aydin highlighted the goal of increasing bilateral trade to $100 billion.
"Reaching $100 billion means more Turkish companies entering the American market, more American investors investing in Türkiye, more joint production, more technology transfer, more employment, and a stronger economic partnership," Aydin said.
He pointed to opportunities for joint investment in energy, defense, aviation, software, artificial intelligence and agriculture.
Bolat also attended the 19th Türkiye Investment Conference, organized by the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK), its Türkiye-U.S. Business Council (TAIK) and Citi.
The conference brought together global institutional investors and focused on what Bolat described as the resilience of the Turkish economy, Türkiye's investment climate and its strategic advantages for global investors.
Bolat said bilateral goods trade reached $38.6 billion in 2025 and that both administrations aim to expand economic ties through mutual investment, co-production and innovation.
He identified renewable energy, the digital economy, artificial intelligence, defense and aerospace, automotive, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and medical devices as key areas for cooperation between Turkish and American companies.
Bolat also attended the Global Turks New York Forum organized by the Global Turks Foundation, where he said the Turkish diaspora plays an important role in expanding Türkiye's commercial ties worldwide.
He said Turkish communities in the U.S. and other countries have made significant progress in organizing diaspora initiatives and that civic platforms contribute to promoting Türkiye internationally.
Bolat added that Turkish citizens living abroad serve as a cultural and commercial bridge between their host countries and Türkiye.
