Abdelaziz el-Sherif, first undersecretary of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, took part in the Türkiye–Africa Business and Economic Forum held in Istanbul.

Sherif noted that the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Türkiye has reached around $10 billion, while Turkish investments in Egypt have exceeded $4 billion.

The investments are distributed across hundreds of companies and factories operating in the textile and ready-made garments, chemicals, engineering industries, and food sectors.

He highlighted Egyptian–Turkish cooperation in Africa through the “Egypt–Türkiye Cooperation Bridges in Africa” Forum, held earlier in October in Ankara, focusing on the construction sector.

He stressed that Egypt serves as a key gateway for Turkish and foreign investments seeking access to African markets.

Strategic Egyptian–Turkish partnership

On the sidelines of the forum, Sherif held a meeting with Mustafa Denizer, chairman of the Turkish side of the Egypt–Türkiye Business Council and one of the longest-standing Turkish investors in Egypt.

The meeting discussed arrangements for the upcoming visit of the Egyptian minister of investment and foreign trade to Istanbul in early November to attend the ministerial meeting of COMCEC.

It will also include an intensive program of bilateral meetings organized by the Egyptian Commercial Office in Istanbul, headed by Commercial Minister Plenipotentiary Ali Basha, with official bodies, business associations, and Turkish companies

Those meetings aimed at strengthening the strategic Egyptian–Turkish partnership, which has already entered an advanced stage of cooperation.

The forum was under the auspices of the Turkish Ministry of Trade and the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK), in cooperation with the African Union.

The forum witnessed high-level participation from senior ministers, officials, and business leaders from Türkiye and African nations.

It concluded with the attendance of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who emphasized the importance of strengthening economic partnerships between Türkiye and Africa.
