Firat Elektrik Dagitim AS (Firat EDAS), serving Türkiye’s Eastern Anatolia Region, has become the first company in the country’s energy sector to receive accreditation for the ISO/IEC 42001 Artificial Intelligence Management System.
According to a company statement, Firat EDAS continues its work on the EnergyMind: Domestic and National Artificial Intelligence Platform Development Project, launched in June to detect failures in electricity distribution systems before they occur.
The project aims to strengthen corporate awareness around AI governance, align processes with international standards, and enhance data security infrastructure.
Within the project scope, operational processes were extensively analyzed, existing practices were evaluated for compliance with standards, and required improvements were planned.
Training programs, documentation efforts, application testing, and audit preparations supported the process, creating a foundation for managing AI-based operations in a more secure, traceable, and sustainable manner.
Following meticulous preparations, the company successfully completed the accreditation phase.
Firat EDAS earned the accreditation after completing training, documentation, and certification processes required under the new standard, which ensures AI-based applications are managed in a secure, ethical, and auditable structure.
The company said: "This accreditation is an important step that strengthens our capacity to manage AI applications in many critical areas, ranging from fault management and decision-support mechanisms to customer operations and occupational health and safety, in a more controlled, traceable, and ethically compliant structure. As Firat EDAS, we will continue working toward a smarter, safer, and more resilient energy distribution infrastructure, aware of the path this achievement will open in the sector."
