Türkiye remained the most popular holiday destination for Russian tourists in August 2026, but it also had the highest average package-tour cost among the top 10 destinations, according to a sectoral analysis.
The average price of a package tour to Türkiye with flights reached RUB 255,450 in August, up 9.2% from RUB 233,850 a year earlier.
At the same time, the average stay shortened from eight to seven nights.
The increase reflected the euro's appreciation against the ruble and higher package prices during the peak summer season, Russia's Association of Tour Operators (ATOR) said.
Among the preferred destinations, the combined share of Kemer, Alanya, Side, Belek, and Antalya fell to around 65% of Russian tour sales in Türkiye, from around 72% in 2025.
Bodrum, Marmaris, and Fethiye gained ground, as did Istanbul and Cappadocia, as Russian tourists increasingly chose the Aegean coast and excursion destinations during the peak season.
The hotel mix also shifted toward higher-end properties. The share of 5-star hotels rose to 70.6% from 69.1%, while 4-star hotels fell to 22.9% from 24.8%. The share of 3-star hotels remained at 5.4%.
All-inclusive and ultra-all-inclusive packages remained dominant, although breakfast and full-board options gained ground as the share of trips to the Aegean coast, Istanbul, and Cappadocia increased.
Couples accounted for 45.9% of August tours to Türkiye, down from 47% a year earlier. Families with one child represented 31.1% of bookings, while families with two children accounted for 14.5%. Singles made up 5.2%.
Children accounted for 49.3% of travelers, up from 48% in August 2025. The average number of tourists per booking also edged up to 2.49 from 2.44.
Egypt ranked second among the 10 destinations, with its average package price including airfare rising 10.7% year-on-year to RUB 220,300. The share of 4-star hotels increased from 33.5% to 39.9%, while 5-star properties fell from 63.3% to 57.8%.
Russia remained the cheapest destination in the top 10, with the average bill edging up to RUB 131,150 from RUB 130,950 in August 2025. Abkhazia rose to RUB 150,050 from RUB 144,200, while Thailand was almost unchanged at RUB 178,300.
Vietnam recorded a 6.2% decline in the average package price to RUB 190,400. The decrease came as charter programs expanded and more flight options became available via visa-free China. The share of 5-star hotels remained around 53%.
China recorded the sharpest decline among the 10 destinations, with the average tour price falling 10.5% to RUB 179,950. Demand shifted beyond Hainan toward mainland cities including Beijing, Shanghai, and Harbin, where shorter stays and lower accommodation and food costs reduced the average bill.
The Maldives also recorded lower spending, with the average bill falling 4.6% to RUB 292,850. The share of 4-star hotels increased from 52.7% to 57.9%, while the share of 5-star properties dropped from 40.5% to 36.8%.
The UAE returned to the top 10 after a ban on tour sales was lifted, with its average package price reaching RUB 182,600, up 3.8% from a year earlier. Tunisia also returned to the ranking after direct charter flights were launched, with its average bill rising 11.8% to RUB 200,600.
