Turkish carpet exporters generated $634.42 million in revenue by exporting 126.09 million square meters of carpets in the first three months of 2026.
According to data compiled by an Anadolu Agency correspondent from the Southeastern Anatolia Exporters’ Associations, carpet producers in Türkiye exported to 182 countries and free zones during the January–March period.
Machine-made carpets accounted for the largest share of exports, generating $501.79 million in revenue.
They were followed by specially designed tufted carpets with $104.719 million, hand-made carpets with $25.830 million, and kilims with $2.083 million.
By country, the United States ranked first among export destinations with $180.94 million in sales.
Saudi Arabia followed with $89.71 million, while the United Kingdom ranked third with $47.39 million.
By regional grouping, the Americas accounted for the largest share of exports at $194.69 million, followed by the Middle East with $165.30 million and European Union countries with $100.34 million.
Zeynal Abidin Kaplan, chairman of the Southeastern Anatolia Carpet Exporters’ Association, said Turkish carpets continue to reach markets worldwide.
Noting that global economic challenges and ongoing conflicts are affecting exporters, Kaplan said, “We have some difficulties, but our state is strong and will resolve them. We have customs-related problems in some countries, and due to the war, we are in a ring of fire in the Middle East, Russia, Ukraine, and in Palestine, Libya, and Syria.”
Despite these challenges, he said the sector continues to produce and export.
“By overcoming these problems, we continue our exports. Our target is big; our year-end target across Türkiye is $3.5 billion. We cannot yet foresee what the current developments will bring us.”
