Türkiye’s first population-registered humanoid robot, CANIKMAN, took part in the May opening meeting of the Canik Municipal Council in Samsun, where it followed the session and answered questions from council members.
The meeting, chaired by Canik Mayor Ibrahim Sandikci, focused on ongoing projects and investments across the district, according to a written statement from the municipality.
Sandikci said the municipality continues to carry out projects in education, science, and technology, noting that CANIKMAN has been brought together with students at schools and at the Canik Ozdemir Bayraktar Discovery Campus.
He said CANIKMAN guides students during workshop programs at the campus, where the municipality continues to offer free education programs in science and technology.
“Türkiye’s first population-registered humanoid robot, CANIKMAN, continues to meet with our children and young people,” Sandikci said, adding that the municipality aims to raise generations with awareness of innovative technologies.
The meeting also covered local infrastructure work, including an agreement with a private internet service provider to bring fiber internet infrastructure to 20,000 households in the district.
Sandikci said the municipality is continuing to roll out new social areas for residents, while construction of neighborhood mansions, which serve as local community facilities, is also progressing.
The session ended after the council discussed the agenda items and referred them to relevant commissions.
