Türkiye’s licensed electricity generation increased by 6.51% in June compared with the same month last year, reaching 26.26 million megawatt-hours, according to official data.
The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) said in its June Electricity Market Sector Report that hydropower accounted for the largest share of licensed generation at 40.12%.
Wind followed with 12.95%, imported coal with 12.55%, lignite with 11.45%, natural gas with 10.91% and solar power with 3.99%.
These sources were followed by geothermal, biomass, hard coal, asphaltite and fuel oil.
Billed electricity consumption increased by 7.09% in the same period, reaching 24.1 million megawatt-hours.
Industry accounted for 40.17% of consumption, while households made up 25.62%.
The public and private services sector and other subscribers accounted for 27.81% of consumption.
The share of lighting was 1.61%, while agricultural activities accounted for 4.79%.
The number of electricity consumers rose by 2.56% in June compared with the same month last year, reaching 52.51 million.
During this period, the number of industrial consumers increased by 0.11%, while household consumers rose by 2.57%.
The number of lighting consumers increased by 2.61%, public and private services sector and other consumers by 2.65%, and agricultural activity consumers by 1.28%.
Türkiye’s licensed installed electricity capacity increased by 3.15% in June, reaching 100,874 megawatts.
Natural gas accounted for 24.39% of installed capacity, followed by dammed hydropower with 23.66%.
Wind accounted for 14.90%, imported coal for 10.37% and lignite plants for 10.14%.
The remaining capacity came from facilities generating electricity from other energy sources.
