Türkiye's unemployment rate fell to a record low of 7.6% in June, down 0.5 percentage points from the previous month, as the number of unemployed people declined by 168,000 to 2.7 million, official data showed.
Compared with a year earlier, the unemployment rate was 1 percentage point lower, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) reported. The jobless rate stood at 6.5% for men and 9.8% for women, with the latter marking its lowest level since August 2012.
Youth unemployment, covering people aged 15-24, also eased in June. The rate dropped 1.8 percentage points from the previous month to 12.8%, with unemployment at 10.4% among young men and 17.3% among young women.
The broader unemployment measure, which includes unemployed people, those working fewer hours than they want and people available for work but not actively seeking a job, fell 2 percentage points month-on-month to 28.8%.
Meanwhile, the combined rate of time-related underemployment and unemployment stood at 18.5%, while the combined rate of unemployment and the potential labor force, people available to work but not currently looking for a job, was estimated at 19.2%.
Seasonally adjusted employment climbed by 227,000 from the previous month to 32.7 million people in June, lifting the employment rate by 0.3 percentage points to 48.9%, its highest level since last December.
The seasonally adjusted labor force increased by 58,000 to 35.4 million, while the labor force participation rate edged up 0.1 percentage points to 52.9%.
Average actual weekly working hours for those in employment rose by 0.1 hours from the previous month to 42.5 hours after seasonal and calendar adjustments.
Separate data showed Türkiye's economic confidence index also improved, rising 0.9% month-on-month to 99.8 in July from 98.9 in June, reaching its highest level since February and moving closer to the key 100-point threshold.
Consumer confidence climbed 2.2% from the previous month to 89.8, while the real sector confidence index slipped 0.8% to 101.2.
Among other sectors, the services confidence index increased 1.4% to 112, the retail trade confidence index fell 1.6% to 111, and the construction confidence index edged up 0.6% to 83.5.
