U.S. country singer Ella Langley canceled a sold-out concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Friday over what she called a "serious security threat," even though police said two sweeps of the arena turned up nothing dangerous.
Langley, announced the cancellation on Instagram, saying she was concerned about the safety of fans, venue staff, and her team, NBC News reported.
She said the decision was made on the advice of local authorities, the venue and her security team.
Tulsa police said they received a phone call threatening the lives of people attending the show at the BOK Center. Officers searched the arena twice, using bomb-sniffing dogs, bomb squad technicians, patrol officers, and venue security staff. Nothing dangerous was found.
Police said they told Langley’s team no credible threat had been identified, but the team chose to cancel anyway.
The incident remains under investigation. No arrests or suspects have been announced.
Langley apologized to fans in her statement. "Your safety will always mean more to me than anything else," she said. "I refuse to put anyone in harm’s way."
The BOK Center said refund details for ticket holders would be announced soon.
